A Reading? A Gym? A Reading at a Gym!

May182007

For our May reading, we decided to have the reading at Clay, our favorite gym just five doors down from Paragraph. We had some reservations. A reading at a gym? Will that be weird? And we wanted to have our usual post-reading celebration, which, because it includes wine and cheese, is best hosted at Paragraph. Will people be willing to walk a few doors down for the after party? But because Clay is not just any gym, but a gracious, accommodating, immaculately designed one, it wasn't weird at all. It was a delight.

Tom Hopkins reads a selection of short stories and confesses he never thought he would do a reading that followed a yoga class.

Josh Harmon can't believe he has to read after Tom. Is that really fair?

Josh Harmon tells us what we need to know before he reads from his forthcoming novel Quinnehtukqut (pronounced like the state).

Two Paragraph members, one incredulous about the picture, not the reading.

Josh Harmon continues to read and we like this double reflection in the picture. It really was a room full of mirrors.

Tom Hopkins and Emily Barton enjoy the lush descriptions of Harmon's work.
