Another Agent Success Story
In this installment of our occasional series we catch up with Margot Berwin, author of Hothouse Flower and the Nine Plants of Desire, whose career blossomed after a Paragraph event.
Paragraph member Margot Berwin's first novel Hothouse Flower and the Nine Plants of Desire (Pantheon) hit stores this month. The book is getting rave reviews in places like Elle and the Wall Street Journal, and Berwin will soon hit the road for a 10-city book tour (the first reading is 7 pm June 19th at Barnes & Noble Tribeca).
We here at Paragraph don't like to brag. But we do like to play matchmaker.
Margot met her agent, Sam Hiyate of the Toronto-based agency The Rights Factory, at a Paragraph reading in 2007. He agreed to represent her work, successfully sold the book and the film rights, and the rest is publishing history.
