Bob Smith is the author of the hilarious debut novel Selfish & Perverse, which was one of three finalists for the Edmund White Debut Fiction Award. His collection of essays Openly Bob won a Lambda Literary Award, and his second collection, Way to Go, Smith!, was nominated for a Lambda Literary Award. Bob has the distinction of being the first openly gay comedian to appear on The Tonight Show and also have his own HBO Comedy Half-hour. He has written for Amblin Films, The MTV Video Awards, Dennis Miller, Roseanne, and he was a staff writer for Fox's MAD-TV. Bob is a regular contributor to Out magazine.
Patrick Ryan Patrick Ryan's collection of interwoven short-stories, Send Me, was published by The Dial Press in2006, and was short-listed for the Mercantile Library's John Sargent, Sr. Prize for Fiction. It was also selected for the Barnes & Noble Discover New Writers Series. He is the author of the young adult novel Saints of Augustine --listed as one of New York Public Library's Best Books for the Teen Age (2007) -- and the forthcoming novel In Mike We Trust, both published by HarperCollins.ᅠ His stories have appeared in Best American Short Stories 2006, One Story, The Iowa Review, The Yale Review, and other journals.ᅠ In 2006 he received a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship for Fiction, and his story "Getting Heavy With Fate" received the 2005 Smart Family Foundation Award for Fiction.ᅠ
