Please join editors Paul Whitlatch and Lucas Wittmann and agent Jim Hanks as they discuss their jobs and specialties. For Paragraph members only.

Paul Whitlatch is an assistant editor at Scribner. His list includes the forthcoming novel American Subversive by Paragraph member David Goodwillie. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of NYU, Whitlatch interned with the Susan Golomb Agency and the Levine Greenberg Agency, and later served as an editorial assistant at W. W. Norton. Among the authors with whom he has worked are Don DeLillo, Colm Toibin, Mary Roach, Kai Bird, Audrey Niffenegger, Jeannette Walls, and Monica Ali.

Jim Hanks works at the literary agency Aragi Inc. Originally from the Chicago area, he lived for a number of years on the West Coast before moving to New York City to work with Nicole Aragi. He is beginning to start his own list and specializes in literary fiction.

Lucas Wittmann works at W. W. Norton, the oldest independent publisher in America. Since starting in 2007 he’s worked on a range of genres, especially non-fiction, fiction in translation, and graphic work. He has worked with authors such as Nadine Gordimer, R. Crumb, António Lobo Antunes, Jan Morris and Edna O’Brien, among many others.
