6-Week Poetry Workshop: The Art of Revision

Writing is the art of revision. Sometimes it means tweaking only one line; sometimes it means deleting everything but one line. In this workshop, we'll learn radical strategies for revision that will open new possibilities. For any poet feeling stuck, this is your opportunity to breathe new life into your drafts. Together, we'll examine how poets like Elizabeth Bishop and Carl Phillips revise their work, and what lessons we can apply to our own practice.

Ben Purkert is the author of For the Love of Endings (Four Way Books, 2018). His poems appear or are forthcoming in The New Yorker, Kenyon Review, Tin House Online, Ploughshares, and elsewhere. A contributing editor at Guernica Magazine, he curates Back Draft, an interview series focused on poets and revision. He holds degrees from Harvard and NYU, and currently teaches at Rutgers.
